LOC satisfied with 13th African Games

Member of the Media Committee of the 13th African Games’ Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Rosalind Amoo, has praised the organization of the ongoing African games despite a few reported challenges.
She contends that despite encountering hiccups during the early stages, athletes have expressed satisfaction with the facilities and punctuality, with the exception of Ghana, which faced initial issues.
She attributed the surge in participation from citizens to the allure of free entry and the presence of performers, which have drawn crowds to the games.
Addressing concerns regarding gate fees, she clarified that the bills have been footed by the state and private organisations, emphasizing that the responsibility for Team Ghana lies with the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
She stressed that it is incumbent upon federations to ensure their teams are adequately prepared, and any budgetary constraints should be addressed through proper channels.
Commenting on Ghana’s performance, Amoo highlighted the nation’s strengths in football, boxing, and track and field, particularly sprinting.
She asserts that comparisons with other teams should be fair, considering each nation’s strengths and areas of expertise.
Anticipating a thrilling showdown between Nigeria and Ghana in the sprint events, she emphasizes the importance of focusing on Ghana’s strengths rather than direct comparisons with other teams.
Reflecting on the event’s success, Amoo acknowledged the initial challenges but asserts that given the circumstances, it has been a success.
While refraining from labeling it as monumental, she commended the efforts of all involved and expressed optimism for the remainder of the competition.
