Gambian transport officials applaud Metro Mass innovations
The Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC) has commended the Board and Management of Ghana’s Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) for their innovative strategies in revitalizing the state-owned transport company.
GTSC officials expressed admiration for the groundbreaking reforms implemented by MMTL, particularly those driven by technology, which have significantly improved the company’s operations.
The introduction of the ‘Tap n Go’ Card by the Vice-President of Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, caught the attention of GTSC representatives during their recent visit to MMTL.
The technology-driven solutions implemented by MMTL left a profound impression on the GTSC delegation.
Seedy Kanyi, General Manager of GTSC, lauded MMTL’s transformation efforts, noting the stark difference between their previous perceptions and the innovative solutions witnessed during their visit.
He expressed confidence in MMTL’s trajectory towards success and pledged to replicate similar strategies in GTSC’s operations.
The GTSC delegation, led by Board Chairman Saloum Malang, embarked on a five-day study tour to MMTL to gain insights into the company’s operations and financial modules.
The delegation also included Mr. Amadou Drammeh, Head of Traffic Operations, and Mr. Mustapha B. Colley, Corporate Planning Manager.
Impressed by MMTL’s performance, Saloum Malang emphasized the importance of continuous improvement, acknowledging MMTL’s leadership in the transport sector.
During their visit, the GTSC delegation interacted with key stakeholders, including the Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, and top management staff at MMTL.
They explored various departments, learning best practices and gaining insights into day-to-day operations.
Albert Adu Boahen, Managing Director of MMTL, welcomed the delegation and encouraged them to leverage their visit to enhance GTSC’s operations.
He highlighted the close relationship between Ghana and The Gambia, reaffirming MMTL’s commitment to supporting GTSC’s endeavors.
The delegation toured MMTL facilities, including the operations room for the ‘Tap n Go’ card, workshop department, and bus terminals.
They also inspected newly acquired VDL buses tailored for Ghana’s rugged road networks.
The collaboration between MMTL and GTSC signifies a shared commitment to innovation and excellence in the transportation sector, fostering mutual learning and growth opportunities for both countries.
