Rev Dr Aryee charges women to harness God-given talents

By Isaac AIDOO, Accra

Founder and Executive Director of the para-church organization, Salt & Light Ministries, Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, has rallied Ghanaian women to appreciate their worth and harness their God-given talents for their own growth and the betterment of society.

She admonished women to wake up to the fact that they were born and bred differently, with a myriad of skills, most of which are ingrained.

Rev. Dr. Aryee made the remarks when she spoke at a forum put together by the Ghana Employers’ Association in collaboration with the Female Future Ghana Alumni Network.

The forum, themed “Diversity and Inclusion: Empowering Females for Career Development and Leadership at the Workplace and Beyond,” was held to mark International Women’s Day.

Rev. Dr. Aryee charged women to cherish their versatility and be resolute in facing emerging challenges, believing in their abilities to overcome.

“I think that it’s innate in most of us women because we can do several things because of our biological make-up; you grow up being taught how to do several things.

While we don’t put value on them, all these things are very important because they teach you to even manage time; they teach you to blend gifts and talents and because it’s innate, we have to deliberately recognize that we can do several things at the same time and actually harness it for our own growth,” she explained.

She reiterated the fact that the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations could not be attained without the involvement and empowerment of women.

“The UN itself is putting focus on women and the need to have inclusive development,” she maintained. Dr. Aryee wondered how the world could neglect half of its population and go on.

“It can’t succeed when half of its able, talented, professional people are not at the decision-making levels, are not at the boardrooms; It just means that the world is missing out and I am glad that the world is coming to grips with it,” she indicated, adding that “what it means is that we also need to know our value and make sure that we bring it to the table.”

The forum brought together a diverse group of women from the Female Future Ghana Alumni Network as well as young, ambitious career-oriented ladies to commemorate the 2024 International Women’s Day and spark dialogue on critical issues affecting women’s success in the workplace and beyond.

The ICT Manager at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Ing. Dr. Enyonam Kpekpena outlined some of her achievements, challenges, and prospects in her career path and encouraged women to stop at nothing to get to the topmost echelon of their abilities.
