Unity is vital to a brighter Ghana – Dr. Bawumia
The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has issued a call for unity among Ghanaians as the nation commemorates its 67th Independence Anniversary.
In his message marking the occasion, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of harmony in building a prosperous future for all citizens and generations to come.
“Today, as we celebrate our 67th Independence Anniversary, let us remember that unity is the key to unlocking Ghana’s full potential,” stated Dr. Bawumia.
“While much progress has been made, there is still much to be achieved. With unity and a shared purpose, we can create a brighter Ghana for all.”
The Independence Day celebrations are taking place in Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region, where dignitaries from across the nation, including political figures, religious leaders, traditional authorities, and opinion leaders, have gathered to mark the occasion.
Similar celebrations are being held in all 15 regional capitals, as well as in numerous district, municipal, and metropolitan centers across the country.
One notable guest at the festivities in Koforidua is H.E. Alassane Ouattara, the President of Ivory Coast, who is serving as the Guest of Honour.
The presence of President Ouattara underscores the strong ties between Ghana and Ivory Coast and reflects the spirit of cooperation and friendship between the two nations.
Ghana’s Independence Day holds special significance as it marks the country’s liberation from British colonial rule on March 6, 1957, exactly 67 years ago.
Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accompanied by his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, and members of his newly formed campaign team, including MP Daniel Kwaku Botwe, attended the celebrations in Koforidua.
As Ghana looks ahead to the future, Dr. Bawumia’s message of unity serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to work towards a prosperous and inclusive nation for all its citizens.
