Nursing licensing exams rescheduled to 4 September

By Rebecca Okine

The Ministry of Health has rescheduled the Centralised Nursing and Midwifery Licensing Examinations to 4 September 2025, following a consultative meeting with key stakeholders.

The meeting, held between Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI), resulted in a decision to shift the date and revert to the previous arrangement of conducting the exams within the respective training institutions.

According to the Ministry, the move is intended to ensure smooth participation and effective supervision by the NMC, while also addressing safety concerns over students travelling long distances to sit the exams.

“This measure is necessary to safeguard the safety and well-being of candidates while ensuring fairness and proper monitoring of the examinations,” Mr Akandoh stated.

He added that requiring students to travel across regions to write their exams posed unnecessary risks.

The Ministry also expressed appreciation to candidates, training institutions, and stakeholders for their cooperation and understanding throughout the process.

The NMC is expected to issue a revised timetable and detailed guidelines in the coming days

. The Minister further assured stakeholders that the Ministry will provide the necessary logistics to ensure the successful implementation of the new arrangement.
