5 Heads of State, top business leaders confirm participation in APD

Five African Heads of State and one from the Caribbean, along with numerous top business and thought leaders across the African continent, have confirmed their participation in the second edition of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD).

The event is organized by the Africa Prosperity Network (APN) and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, based in Accra, Ghana, with support from the government of Ghana.

Among the Heads of State attending APD 2024 are the host, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana; Mohammed Infaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana; Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal; Faure Gnassingbé, President of the Republic of Togo; Umaro Sissoco Embaló, President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, and Sahle-Work Zewde, President of Ethiopia.

Other prominent government officials who will also be present include Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane of Mozambique, Vice President of Côte d’Ivoire, the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly in Algeria, and the Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, Wamkele Mene.

Leaders from leading businesses and institutions across Africa who have confirmed their participation include Prof. Benedict Okey Oramah of Afreximbank, Mohamed M. Abou El Enein – Chairman and Founder, Cleopatra Group, Dr. Sidi Ould Tah – Director General, BADEA, Ahunna Eziakonwa – Assistant Secretary, Regional Bureau for Africa, UNDP, Solomon Quaynor – Vice President, AfDB, and Brigitte Radebe, President, South African Mining Development Association.

Others include Cherif Abdallah – Chairman, CONEX Group of Companies, Liberia; Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Chancellor of the University of Cape Town; Ernest Addison – Governor, Bank of Ghana; Marufatu Abiola Bawuah, CEO, UBA Africa; Alex Dadey – Chairman, KGL; Julius Mwale – Principal, Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC), Lacina Koné – CEO, Smart Africa, Wale Tinubu – CEO, Oando PIc; Yofi Grant- CEO, GIPC; Serge ERue – President of the West African Development Bank; Opoku Ahweneeh Danquah, CEO, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation; Ebenezer Asante SVP, Markets, MTN Group, among others.

As part of APD 2024, there will be the ‘Lighting the Africa Trade Torch (ATT),’ a private sector initiative for popularizing AfCFTA among the African people and the African private sector, including SMEs, women, and youth. The ATT lighting will be carried out under the auspices of the Africa Business Council, led by its President Dr. Amany Asfour.

The APD 2024, themed “Delivering Prosperity in Africa: Produce, Add Value, Trade,” is expected to have over 800 delegates attending the three-day event from Thursday, January 25, to Saturday, January 27, 2024.

The event will take place at the Peduase Presidential Lodge in the Aburi Hills, Eastern Region of Ghana.

The program includes high-level sessions featuring top business and thought leaders, side events, the ‘Africa Prosperity Champions Awards and Presidential Gala Dinner’ and a fireside chat with Aliko Dangote, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of the Dangote Group.
