The Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Kwame Asuah Takyi, has advised the officers and men of the Service to work to bring glory to the Service in the year 2024.
This he said is the only way to leave a legacy that will outlive them.
This he said will not only reflect on the Service, but on themselves and their families.
He made this call at the end of year Thanksgiving Service organised by the Religious Affairs Department of the service on Friday.
Asuah Takyi, in his address, commended the Service men and women for their dedication throughout the year, despite the steep challenges that confronted them in the line of duty.
Of particular concern to the Comptroller-General was the increased attacks on Service personnel, leading to the deaths of some 33 Immigration Officers in the course of the year, 2023.
He thanked the Immigration officers at the Thanksgiving Service for their hard work and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
He said, “we have had our share of good and bad experiences, but you remained resolute in your commitments. Together we have overcome obstacles and blazed changes.
The Greater Accra Regional Chief Imamm, who delivered the homily, admoniahed the Servicemen to thank Allah for their life and good health, as there were healthier, prettier, wealthier people who did not make it to the end of 2023,but they have been fortunate to remain in the land of the living.
He also advised them to be obedient in their service to Allah, as “thanking Allah wholeheartedly is to obey wholeheartedly.”
He also advised them to honour their parents so long as they live in order to draw the blessings of Allah.
“If we’re already doing this, we should keep it up, but if we don’t, we should change our ways,” he said.
Finally, he advised the Immigration Officers to live peaceably with everyone around them, while sharing bountifully from the gifts that Allah has given them
