MobileMoney Limited, a subsidiary of MTN Ghana overseeing mobile financial services, hosted it’s 2023 National Mobile Money (MoMo) Agents and Merchants Awards in Accra.

The event commemorated the exemplary performance of MoMo agents and merchants across Ghana’s 16 regions throughout the year.

A total of 44 awards were conferred across six categories, recognizing outstanding achievements in providing mobile financial services.

Categories included Best MoMo Agents and Best Merchants for each of the 16 regions, as well as regional top MoMo agents and key stakeholders pivotal in shaping the MoMo landscape, such as fintech and bank partners, who were honoured with plaques for their contributions.

Gracing the occasion, each award recipient from the 16 regions received Ghs10,000 e-cash alongside plaques.

Furthermore, distinctions were awarded to the Overall Best MoMo Agent and Overall Best Merchant of the Year 2023, who received GHS50,000 each in recognition of their exceptional performance.

My Kids Pride Links Limited, based in Tema, clinched the top spot in the Greater Accra Region and secured the esteemed title of Overall Best Mobile Money Agent of the Year 2023, marking their consecutive win after their victory in 2022.

Grateful for the recognition, Ms. Dorcas Abena Gyabea, CEO of My Kids Pride Links Limited, promised to continue the stellar performance in the coming year, expressing gratitude to MobileMoney Limited for the honour bestowed upon their company.

She admonished other agents and merchants to work hard to promote MTN Mobile Money and strive to satisfy customers at all times to stand a chance of bagging awards next year.

Likewise, J. Obeng Ventures, located in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, secured the accolade for Overall Best Merchant of the Year 2023.

Expressing delight at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney Limited, Shaibu Haruna, commended the recipients for their significant contributions to enhancing financial inclusion in Ghana.

He highlighted the challenges and successes of 2023 within the industry, emphasizing the growth in transaction volumes, values, and the adoption of advanced services on their platform.

He indicated that one of the key challenges his outfit continues to face as they work to accelerate financial inclusion is MoMo fraud.

“We all have a shared responsibility in fighting this and I encourage you all to help us in the fight against MoMo fraud and its related issues” he said.

Acknowledging the support from customers, partners, the regulator (Bank of Ghana), and stakeholders, he affirmed MobileMoney Limited and MTN Ghana’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive digital landscape in the nation.
