From Emmanuel Adu GYAMFI

In a collaborative effort between the West African Civil Society Institute (WACSI) and A Rocha Ghana, a successful three-day training programme aimed at enhancing mobilizing support and perfection skills has been completed for nine organizations.

The training workshops were conducted from November 26 to December 1, 2024, in Koforidua, Eastern Region, and from December 4 to 6, 2024, at East Legion, Accra.

The participating organizations, totaling nine, include Concern Citizens of Atewa Landscape, Youth Alliance for Green Ghana, Ghana Youth Environment Movement, Ghana Environmental Advocacy Group, Youth Volunteers for Environment Ghana, Flower, Environmental Report, Northcode Ghana, and SILDEP. Each organization was represented by 18 participants who underwent intensive training sessions.

The primary focus of the training was to equip participants with effective communication and presentation skills, crucial for advocating environmental causes.

Additionally, participants gained valuable insights into legal frameworks, empowering them to make compelling legal arguments in support of their initiatives.

The initiative, known as “Strengthening the Roots,” aims to empower environmental organizations with the necessary skills and knowledge to enhance their impact.

The training workshop is a testament to the commitment of WACSI and A Rocha Ghana to support grassroots environmental initiatives across the region.

Expressing gratitude to their partners, Wilde Ganzen, and Change the Game Academy, A Rocha Ghana and WACSI highlighted the importance of collaboration in building the capacity of organizations dedicated to environmental advocacy.

The successful completion of the training marks a significant step towards fostering a more informed and skilled network of environmental advocates in West Africa.
