Twelve remanded over railway damage from illegal mining

The Tarkwa Circuit Court has remanded 12 suspects allegedly involved in illegal mining activities that led to the destruction of the Takoradi–Nsuta railway line.
The accused are standing trial on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, undertaking mining operations without a licence, and causing unlawful damage.
During proceedings, the court did not take their pleas, pending advice from the Attorney General’s office. The case docket has been forwarded for review.
The court remanded the suspects for a period of two weeks. The case has been adjourned, and the accused are expected to reappear on 22 October 2025.
The suspects, identified as Dennis Adom, Alex Kofi Acquah, Kwame Simon, Isaac Arhin, Larri Koku, Lambon Moyisi, Ali Asoma, Nurudeen Kobina, Jude Azumah, Yendari Mombe, Jonathan Ayamdore and Daniel Combat, were arrested on 30 September 2025 in an operation led by ASP De-Ben Eden Selassi, Operations Commander of the Western Central Regional Police Command.
