CAMFED Ghana supports 323, 814 girls through school in 2 years

In a significant achievement, CAMFED Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operating in 38 districts, has provided support to 323,814 girls through school between 2020 and 2022. This impactful initiative aims to empower and uplift girls across various education levels and promote enterprise development.

According to CAMFED, the support extended to girls comprises Primary School Level-162,759, Senior High School Level-138,721, Post-Secondary Level-13,800 and Tertiary Level-8,543.

In addition to educational support, 32,741 young women were assisted in enterprise development over the same two-year period.

Remarkably, about 80% of these individuals reported increased incomes after participating in the Enterprise Development Programme.

The National Director at CAMFED Ghana, Fairuza Safian, emphasized CAMFED’s vision of a world where every child is educated, protected, and valued.

She highlighted the organization’s commitment to multiplying educational opportunities for girls and empowering young women to become leaders of change.

Speaking at a media partnership meeting in Tamale, Mrs. Safian expressed gratitude to the Mastercard Foundation for its continuous partnership and support in implementing various programs, including the Innovation Bursary, scholars, transitions, and the Young Africa Works programs.

She also thanked relevant ministries and their departments for their collaboration.

CAMFED Ghana has unveiled a new strategic plan spanning 2024-2029, intending to triple its impact over the next six years.

The plan aims to implement a comprehensive support system for the most marginalized girls, enable young women to transition to secure livelihoods, and drive the adoption of best practices in the national education system at scale.

CAMFED operates in five African countries, including Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania, and Malawi.

In Ghana, the organization has a presence in various regions, contributing to the educational and economic empowerment of girls and young women.
