Vodafone’s Angela Mensah-Poku bids farewell

Director for Digital Transformation and Commercial at Vodafone Ghana, madam Angela Mensah-Poku,  bid a heartfelt farewell last week after an illustrious 15-year tenure, leaving an indelible mark on Ghana’s telecommunications industry.



Angela’s departure marked the end of an era defined by her significant contributions to enhancing commercial and operational excellence, not only within Vodafone Ghana but also extending beyond the country’s borders.

Joining Vodafone Ghana in 2007, she swiftly rose through the ranks, holding pivotal positions such as Chief of Staff, Head of Fixed Services, Head of Corporate Sales, Director for Vodafone Business Solutions, Managing Director of Vodafone Wholesale, and most recently, the Director for Digital and Commercial Operations.

Her journey began following Vodafone’s acquisition of Ghana Telecom, where she was among the pioneering diaspora talents to return to her homeland.

Angela’s visionary leadership played a pivotal role in transforming Fixed Services, elevating customer experience across diverse segments.

Her tenure as Director of Digital and Commercial Operations saw the introduction of groundbreaking initiatives like ToBi, the AI Chatbot, and the My Vodafone App, significantly contributing to accelerated commercial growth and digital efficiency through cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence.

Amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic, Mensah-Poku’s leadership shone brightly as she prioritized employee safety and ensured uninterrupted critical customer operations.

Her hands-on approach, including accompanying engineers on field visits and supporting retail stores, showcased her commitment to leading from the front, especially during adversity.

Beyond her corporate achievements, Angela Mensah-Poku has been a driving force in promoting Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through personal mentorship and early support for the WiSTEM Programme at KNUST.



Her exceptional contributions have garnered widespread recognition, including prestigious awards such as the special recognition for her outstanding contribution to the Enterprise and Small Business sector at the Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards (GITTA) in July 2019 and the Best Digital Enabler in 2020 at the same awards ceremony.



Angela’s academic prowess includes an MSc in Information Systems and a BSc in Politics. Her relentless pursuit of knowledge furthered with completion of the Executive Leadership Programme at the London Business School and an Executive Programme in Service Automation: Technologies and Implementation.

She is a member of esteemed institutions like the British Chartered Institute of IT and the Ghana Institute of ICT Professionals, focusing on AI, Data Science, and IoT.

As Angela Mensah-Poku ventures into her next chapter, her legacy of leadership and innovation in Ghana’s telecom industry remains an enduring source of inspiration, poised to shape the future of the sector for years to come.
