Vivo Energy Ghana, the exclusive marketers and distributors of Shell branded products and services, is celebrating a triumphant evening, having secured three esteemed awards at the 10th Edition of the Ghana CSR Excellence Awards, organized by the Centre for CSR, West Africa.
The awards ceremony saw Vivo Energy Ghana recognized for its outstanding contributions to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability.
Leading the way in CSR
Vivo Energy Ghana was bestowed with the title of “CSR Company of the Year.”
This prestigious accolade acknowledges the company’s unwavering commitment to socially responsible and sustainable practices.
It highlights Vivo Energy Ghana’s pivotal role in making a positive impact on communities and the environment.
Road safety campaign receives top honours
One of the standout achievements of the evening was the recognition of Vivo Energy Ghana’s “STOP, THINK & DRIVE” road safety campaign, named the “CSR Initiative/Project of the Year.”
This initiative seeks to provide comprehensive refresher defensive driving training for commercial drivers and motorcyclists across the country, with the aim of reducing the risks of road accidents.
The campaign’s success is a testament to Vivo Energy Ghana’s dedication to enhancing road safety in the nation.
CSR practitioner of the Year
Further adding to its accolades, Shirley Tony Kum, the Corporate Communications Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana, was honored as the “CSR Practitioner of the Year.”
This recognition is a testament to her pivotal role in crafting and implementing impactful and sustainable CSR strategies and initiatives throughout the country, benefiting local communities.
The Centre for CSR, West Africa, a prominent Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability strategy development organization, played a vital role in organizing the awards event.
The organization advocates for socially responsible and sustainable practices among stakeholders, particularly within the private sector.

Commenting on the accolades, Kader Maiga, the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, emphasized the importance of businesses playing a role in creating a more equitable and sustainable future.
He stated, “We firmly believe that businesses have an essential role to play in building a more equitable and sustainable future for all and it is important for organizations to embed CSR values into their operations. As a company, we will continue to integrate ethical practices, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility into the core of our business.”

Vivo Energy Ghana has been associated with a range of sustainability initiatives, including the award-winning “Stop, Think & Drive” Road Safety Campaign, “Junior Road Care” – a campaign to educate school children on road safety, “Clean a Space, Save a Life” – a community development initiative aimed at ensuring a cleaner environment, “CyClean” – a recycling program instilling good environmental behaviors, and the Vivo Energy Ghana Community Digital Literacy Project in the Northern region.
These community-focused initiatives have not only made a substantial impact but have also garnered numerous local and international awards, including the SABRE Awards Africa, National PR and Communications Excellence Awards by the Institute of Public Relations Ghana, and UK Ghana Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.
