Lower football leagues venues not safe- Referee Amoah

By Yaw ADJEI-MINTAH, Accra

Referee Nana Kofi Amoah says several football venues in the lower divisions aren’t safe for referees to administer their duties.

He said this on the sidelines of the Pangelz Scouting Tournament held recently.

Amoah, who is a beneficiary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s Catch Them Young Referee Policy, indicated that officiating in the country is good but security was a major challenge.

“Officiating in Ghana is good. It’s just that in our lower leagues, the venues for matches are not really helping us because if we have inner perimeters, everything will be fine but when you look at our Division II and Division III Leagues because of the parks we use sometimes even during officiating, the supporters can come on to the field. That’s the only challenge I will say we are facing.”

The Pangelz Scouting Tournament was headlined by FIFA agent Pamela Ansah-Asamoah and was held in partnership with Slovakian side MSK Zilina.

Teams like Africa Youth FC and Kengid FC participated in the tournament.
