Ghana remains in 60th position in latest FIFA World Rankings

The Black Stars’ fine display that saw them earn two wins in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against the Central African Republic and a friendly win over Liberia this moth did little for their overall ranking after FIFA released its monthly ranking on Thursday, 21 September 2023.
Ghana has been ranked 60th in the FIFA World ranking for September while Morocco remains Africa’s highest ranked nation in the world thanks in part to their fine display at last year’s World Cup where they reached the semi-finals.
The Atlas Lions moved up two spots on the rankings to 13th while reigning African champion Senegal ranks 18th after dropping two spots.
The Black Stars on the other hand, continues to sit outside the top 10 ranked nations in Africa as the four time AFCON winner ranks 11th in the rankings.
The ranking comes in the wake of the immediate past international football window where Ghana beat Central African Republic (CAR) 2-1 to book its place at the 2023 AFCON.
Progressing to compete in next year’s AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire marks Ghana’s 10th consecutive appearance at the glamour competition.
The Black Stars will now hope their fine display will be rewarded when the next ranking is released in October.
Ghana will be in action next month with two high profile friendly games against the United States of America and Mexico to be played in the US.
Below are the top 15 nations ranked in Africa.
