GFA Elections: Kurt Okraku, George Afriyie face vetting today

By Daniel ODURO, Accra
The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, who is seeking a second term in office, will later today face the Elections Committee and be vetted once again for the highest office.
First elected in October 2019, Okraku believes he has done enough to get a second four-year term to remain the boss of the association.
His stewardship over the four years will however come under the spotlight when the Elections Committee ‘grill’ him today.
Kurt is not the only person who will face the committee today, former GFA Vice President during the Kwesi Nyantakyi era, Afriyie who is the only contender in the presidential race will also face the committee to demonstrate his competence and uprightness for the role.
Afriyie is not new to GFA elections. He contested the last major election in 2019 but after two rounds of voting conceded defeat to Okraku.
In all, 38 individuals seeking spots on the Executive Council, Regional FA Chairmen and the presidency will be vetted over the next two days at the Alisa Hotel in Ridge, Accra.
Successful aspirants will then be cleared for the GFA Elective Congress scheduled to take place in Tamale in September.
