Methodist Church Ghana honours Irene Naa Torshie
The Methodist Church, Ghana, bestowed honors upon Irene Naa Torshie, Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), along with Solomon Nuamah, a businessman in Kumasi, and Madam Grace Boison for their substantial contributions towards the construction of the church’s headquarters, the Wesley Towers.
The recognition took place during the regular end-of-month program for Reverend Ministers and their spouses on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
Situated at Ridge in Accra, the Wesley Towers is a 14-storey ultra-modern office complex designed to facilitate the church’s coordination across the country.
The three honorees were acknowledged for their contributions in the form of cash and furniture towards the construction of this landmark building.
The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Right Reverend Dr. Paul K. Boafo, briefed the gathering about the honors, expressing the church’s appreciation to the donors.
He highlighted how Naa Torshie, Solomon Nuamah, and Madam Grace Boison willingly contributed to the project, and he conveyed the church’s gratitude and blessings to them.
In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, gold-plated designs of the Wesley Towers were presented to the honorees, including Irene Naa Torshie.
The Presiding Bishop explained that the gift serves as a symbol of the church’s appreciation and a tangible reminder of their role in constructing the edifice.
During her brief remarks, Naa Torshie dedicated the honor to her mother, emphasizing the strong influence of methodism in her Christian life.
She urged the church to adopt a maintenance culture for the Wesley Towers and called for continued support to ensure its upkeep.
The Presiding Bishop emphasized that the church would continue to honor all those who have contributed to the construction of the building, keeping their names in the church’s archives.
The Wesley Towers stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts and support from members and benefactors, contributing to the growth and development of the Methodist Church, Ghana.
