No pre-approval visa on arrival for “December in GH” visitors

Government has announced a non-preapproval visa-on-arrival program for visitors coming to the country from December 1, 2023, to January 15, 2024, in support of the “December in GH” events.

This move is part of the “December in GH” campaign, a crucial component of the 10-year “Beyond the Return” initiative.

The visa on arrival program aims to facilitate and encourage increased arrivals to Ghana during the festive season.

By streamlining the visa process, the government hopes to attract more travelers to experience the unique cultural heritage, vibrant events, and festivals during the holiday season.

In line with the objectives of the “Beyond the Return” initiative, the waiver seeks to strengthen Ghana’s position as the preferred destination for tourists and investors from the diaspora and beyond.

It also aims to deepen the bonds between Ghana and its global community, providing opportunities for cultural exchange and economic growth.

The Minister of Transport, Mr. Kweku Ofori Asiamah, signed a letter addressed to all airlines, urging them to update their systems to reflect the new visa arrangement.

Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, welcomed the waiver, encouraging travelers to take advantage of this opportunity and be part of the “December in GH” events.

Since its launch in 2019, “December in GH” has positioned Ghana as the official holiday season destination, attracting diverse participants and becoming a focal point for the global African family to reconnect around the arts and culture.

The campaign features a signature calendar of events officially endorsed by the Ghana Tourism Authority through the “Beyond the Return” steering committee. This calendar is highly anticipated, with travelers planning their trips based on the events they intend to attend.
