German govt supports Ghanaian apparel manufacturers

The Association of Ghana Apparel Manufacturers (AGAM) and the Foreign Trade Association of the German Retail Trade (AVE) proudly announced a groundbreaking partnership with the aim of fostering sustainable growth and employment development in Ghana’s textile sector.

This collaborative effort is generously funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

In a press release issued in Accra, the partnership outlined three primary objectives.

Firstly, it aims to strengthen the management of AGAM in a sustainable manner. Secondly, the collaboration will provide demand-oriented services for member companies. Lastly, it seeks to establish a professional representation of interests, advocating for the textile sector on a broader scale.

Ms. Nura Salifu, Acting President of AGAM, expressed excitement about the collaboration with AVE, highlighting its potential to empower AGAM to better manage the organization, offer tailored services to members, and professionally advocate for their interests.

She emphasized that this joint endeavor is part of a broader objective to improve the business environment for Ghanaian enterprises in the Apparel, Garment, and Textile sector, ultimately driving economic growth and employment development across the nation.

Prof. Dr. Tobias Wollermann, President of AVE, emphasized the opportunity this partnership presents for bolstering sustainable development in the textile sector.

He stated, “Our joint efforts will enhance competitiveness, fostering a stronger, more resilient textile sector in Ghana.”

The partnership will extend beyond advocacy, encompassing capacity-building efforts, training programs, and networking opportunities.
These initiatives aim to enhance the skill sets of enterprises within the AGAM, contributing to the overall sustainability of the sector.

The press release concluded by highlighting the international commitment embodied in this collaboration, with a specific focus on bolstering economic development in Ghana’s textile industry.
Both AGAM and AVE expressed eagerness about the positive impacts anticipated from this partnership on the nation’s textile sector and the broader economic landscape.

This collaboration stands as a testament to the dedication of international entities towards promoting sustainable growth and development in key sectors of Ghana’s economy.
