Hearts relocate home games to Kumasi following Accra Sports Stadium closure

By Enoch Fiifi FORSON, Accra

Hearts of Oak, the Ghanaian football club, has made the decision to relocate their home games to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium following the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium due to scheduled Christmas events, as reported by Onua Sports.

This relocation has implications for the highly anticipated Ghana Premier League clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, initially scheduled to take place in Accra on December 8.

The match will now be held in Kumasi, with Hearts of Oak designated as the home team.

The temporary shift in venue is a result of the Accra Sports Stadium being managed by event organizers for Christmas festivities.

Hearts of Oak Board Member, Alhaji Brimah Moro Akambi, confirmed the decision, noting that the Phobians will play their home games at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the remainder of the year.

The club is open to considering other venues starting in 2023.

Hearts of Oak is currently positioned 14th on the league table with 12 points.

Following the recent departure of coach Martinus Koopman, assistant Abdul Rahim Bashiru has been appointed to manage the team temporarily until a permanent appointment is made.

The team faces the Accra Lions on Tuesday, aiming to get back on track after three straight draws.

The relocation of home games to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium adds a new dimension to their upcoming matches, with fans eagerly anticipating the clash against Asante Kotoko in Kumasi.
