I Would Probably Own Media House If I’m Not an Artiste – Davido

Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has revealed that he would still have pursued a career in the entertainment industry even if his journey as a musician had not succeeded.
The Grammy-nominated artiste, whose real name is David Adeleke, said his passion for show business would have pushed him toward building an entertainment company, such as a record label or media house, rather than becoming a performing artiste.
Davido made the revelation during an interview with PlayKisstra, where he reflected on his interests beyond music and the career paths he could have explored.
According to the singer, entertainment has always been a major part of his life, and he would likely have remained involved in the industry in a different capacity.
“I’d probably be a label owner or have a media house because I’ve always loved entertainment,” Davido said.
He explained that even if he had followed a more traditional career path, he would have found a way to maintain a connection with music and entertainment through business.
“Even if I was working in my daddy’s office, I can see myself having a side business like a music label just because I love music,” he added.
Davido, who comes from a business-oriented family background, also highlighted his academic qualifications, stating that he has the skills and education required to pursue a corporate career if he had chosen that route.
The singer disclosed that he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, which he believes could have opened opportunities for him outside the entertainment industry.
“I have a degree. I have a BSc in Business Management, so I can go to Barclays here and try to get a job. You know what I’m saying? I could get a job. I can actually get a job. I got a résumé,” he said.
Despite his confidence in his ability to work in the corporate world, Davido noted that his passion for entertainment has always been a defining part of his identity.
The singer has built one of Africa’s most successful music careers, while also expanding his influence through business ventures and his record label, Davido Music Worldwide.
His comments highlight his belief that his connection to entertainment goes beyond performing, with entrepreneurship and industry leadership also being areas he would have pursued.
