Rev Ntim Fordjour urges parents to prioritize children’s education

Deputy Minister for Education in charge of General Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called on parents, guardians, and stakeholders to actively engage in the education of their children.

Speaking at the launch of a KG Inset package implementation programme in Assin Manso, he emphasized the importance of leveraging the significant investments made by the government in the education sector to shape the future of the youth.

Rev. Ntim Fordjour explained that supporting children in pursuing education not only makes them productive individuals but also fosters their independence, enabling them to fend for themselves after school.

He underscored that the government’s substantial investment in the education sector is aimed at creating an enabling environment for the youth to acquire 21st-century skills, crucial for the country’s development and global participation.

The Deputy Minister urged parents to take a keen interest in their children’s education, monitoring both their activities at school and during private studies at home.

He highlighted plans for collaboration with the District Assembly, Traditional authority, and other stakeholders to renovate 20 KG schools in the constituency, ensuring a conducive learning environment for children.

Rev. Ntim Fordjour praised the contributions of organizations such as the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Ghana Education Service (GES), Sabre Education, and other stakeholders in advancing education, especially at the early grade level.

Mr. Emmanuel Essuman, the Central Regional Director of Education, emphasized the critical role of teacher training in transforming education.

He assured the community that teachers would strive to provide the best education for the children, aligning with the event’s theme, “Nurturing Young Minds: A Play-Based Learning INSET for Kindergarten Teachers.”

Madam Barbara Vida Ntow, the Director in charge of Early Child Education at the GES, highlighted the significance of the new KG inset package in enhancing effective teaching and learning at the KG level.

She urged teachers and other users to utilize the KG inset packs to boost teaching and learning through play-based learning pedagogy.

The Kindergarten Inset Manuel, launched by the Education Ministry in July, aims to train all KG teachers in the country in Play-Based Learning Pedagogy.

The implementation of the project in the Assin South District commenced after the successful training of teachers, head teachers, School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs), and Education Officers across the district.
