Andre Ayew set to return for Comoros and Madagascar games
Skipper Andre Ayew is set to make his return to the Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, having missed out on the previous international window.
Ayew has been a free agent since July 1, 2023, after leaving Premier League side Nottingham Forest when his short-term deal expired.
The 33-year-old, with 115 appearances and 24 goals, is Ghana’s most capped player.
Ayew was absent from Ghana’s squad for their last two friendly games against Mexico and the USA, both of which ended in defeat for the national team.
His return will provide a significant boost to the Black Stars.
In addition to Ayew, it is understood that Almeria midfielder Iddrisu Baba and Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru will also rejoin the team. Baba made a brief appearance in a La Liga match when his club lost 1-0 to Alaves over the weekend.
Ashimeru returned to action in October after a three-month injury layoff.
Ghana will kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign with a match against Madagascar on November 17 in Kumasi and will travel to face Comoros four days later.
