Ras Kuuku Cries Over TGMA Snub

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste Ras Kuuku has expressed strong dissatisfaction over his exclusion from the Male Vocalist of the Year category at the TGMA27 nominations, describing the situation as unfair and questionable.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with ZED FM during the TGMA27 nominee announcement, the musician said he was surprised to discover his absence from the category despite submitting his work early for consideration.
“I think I’ve been cheated. I should have been in the Male Vocalist of the Year,” he stated.
According to Ras Kuuku, he followed due process by submitting his song on time but has yet to receive any explanation for the omission. “I just saw it. I don’t know. I don’t think there’s anything they’re going to say about it,” he added.
The artiste further raised concerns about inconsistencies in the nomination process, pointing out that while he earned a nomination for Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, he was excluded from the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year category.
“I’m not in the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, but I am in the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year. So if I don’t have the song, how did I get it?” he questioned.
Ras Kuuku noted that this is not the first time he has faced such an issue, indicating a recurring pattern over the years. “We’ve done this for too many years. They don’t call me back. We submit and we wait for the results,” he lamented.
Referencing his past hit “Me Mpaebo,” he said he was similarly overlooked in the Male Vocalist category despite the song’s popularity. “I don’t understand the reason why. I still don’t get it,” he said.
Despite his frustrations, Ras Kuuku acknowledged his current nomination but appeared uncertain about his chances. “Right now, where I’ve been placed, I call it ‘Ma me bi saa,’” he remarked.
He also threw his support behind fellow artiste Wendy Shay for Artiste of the Year, praising her efforts. “She worked hard last year. I will choose her every day, any time,” he said.
