Coventry City Manager, Expresses Confidence in Ghana’s Thomas-Asante
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has reiterated his confidence in Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante after the striker rediscovered his scoring touch in the club’s convincing win over Preston North End.
Thomas-Asante was among the scorers as Coventry secured a comfortable 3–0 triumph, a result that further strengthened their position at the summit of the EFL Championship table. The Sky Blues now hold a six-point advantage over second-placed Middlesbrough as the race for promotion intensifies.
The goal represented an important moment for the Ghanaian forward, who had recently struggled for rhythm after a challenging period that included injury setbacks and a suspension.
Reflecting on the striker’s season while speaking to the club’s media channels, Lampard acknowledged the interruptions that have affected the forward’s campaign but emphasized his continued trust in the player.
“That’s what he gave us right early in the season, and he’s obviously had his injury and then came back and suspension so it’s been a bit broken for him since then,” Lampard explained.
“But I’ve got a lot of faith and love for Brandon working with him every day.”
Lampard also commended the striker’s overall display against Preston, noting the energy and physical attributes he brings to the team’s attacking play.
“It was a good game for him to come into at home here, and I thought he dealt with it well. Getting his goal as the game went on, I liked him more” his power, his reaction always to try and press. He’s got that power and speed about him.”
The goal takes Thomas-Asante’s tally for the campaign to 11 goals and four assists in 25 league appearances, underlining his importance to Coventry’s promotion push.
With momentum building and confidence returning, the Ghanaian striker will be hoping to maintain his scoring form as the season enters its decisive stages, with Coventry City determined to secure a return to the Premier League.
