Shatta Wale Announces New Mobile Phone Venture, Plans Africa-Wide Launch

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed that he is involved in the development of a new mobile phone designed with a highly durable screen, as he prepares for a potential launch across Africa.

The musician disclosed the project during an appearance in an interview, where he spoke about his long-standing interest in technology and innovation.

According to Shatta Wale, his fascination with technology began at a very young age. He recounted how he once wrote a book about security gadgets when he was only nine years old.

“I grew up with a strong background in technology. I remember when I was about nine, I wrote a book about security gadgets, and that book is still with my dad,” he said.

He explained that as he grew older, his passion for technology continued to develop, leading him to experiment with computers and other devices.

“As I grew up, I often worked with computers. I even fixed my dad’s laptop and created complimentary cards. My interest in technology has been a constant throughout my life,” he added.

Shatta Wale further disclosed that about two years ago, he began collaborating with a technology company to develop a mobile phone with a reinforced screen designed to resist cracking or breaking easily.

He noted that the idea behind the device was to create a product that would be both durable and accessible to a wide range of consumers, particularly the middle-income market.

“It’s important to me that my fans feel good about this phone. I am a key stakeholder in the project,” he stated.

The artiste revealed that he holds the largest share in the company behind the device and is actively involved in plans to expand its reach beyond Ghana.

“Our target market is the middle class, ensuring that the phone is affordable for everyone,” he explained.

According to him, the project has already recorded some early success, with thousands of units reportedly sold.

“So far, we have sold approximately 15,000 units, and the company is generating millions in revenue,” he said.

Shatta Wale expressed optimism that the device could soon gain wider recognition across the continent as plans for an Africa-wide rollout continue to take shape.
