Nana Agradaa Freed After Eight Months in Prison

Former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been released from the Nsawam Medium Security Prison after serving eight months of her sentence.

Her release comes after the Amasaman High Court reviewed and reduced her initial 15-year jail term to 12 calendar months. The court described the original sentence, handed down on July 3, 2025, as excessive. She had been convicted of defrauding by false pretence and charlatanic advertisement.

Following the revision of her sentence, Nana Agradaa qualified for remission under Ghana’s prison regulations, which allow inmates to be released after serving two-thirds of their term for good behaviour.

Her husband, Asiamah, confirmed her return in a Facebook post on Tuesday, March 3, expressing gratitude over her release. “Thank God my wife is finally home,” he wrote.

Family sources indicate that the evangelist has since reunited with her relatives and is expected to join members of her church for fellowship later in the day. The gathering is anticipated to mark her first public appearance since regaining her freedom.

Nana Agradaa’s legal troubles stem from activities prior to her rebranding as a Christian evangelist. Prosecutors argued during trial that she used media platforms to advertise spiritual services and allegedly defrauded members of the public.

Her case attracted widespread public attention, sparking debate about religious advertising, consumer protection and sentencing standards in Ghana.

With her release, attention now turns to her next steps, both personally and in ministry, as she resumes life outside prison.
