Tailor Your Workout Routine to Your Lifestyle — Fitness Enthusiast advises

Fitness enthusiast Jacqueline Ansah has encouraged busy professionals to rethink their approach to exercise, stressing that staying fit does not always require intense gym sessions or heavy weightlifting.

Speaking on Business Breakfast on Zed 101.9FM, Ms. Ansah explained that workouts are relative and should be tailored to individual goals and lifestyles.

“A workout is relative. It depends on your goals. You don’t have to do so much,” she said.

Ms. Ansah acknowledged that while she is fortunate to have access to the gym and engages in weightlifting, not everyone has the time or flexibility to do the same.

However, she insisted that this should not be an excuse to avoid exercise altogether.

“If you can’t go to the gym, it is very fine. You can do everything in your room,” she noted.

She advised simple routines that can easily fit into daily schedules. For instance, skipping rope before taking a morning bath or doing 50 to 100 skips in the evening after work can make a meaningful difference. She encouraged beginners to start small and gradually build consistency.

According to her, many people overlook basic physical activities they once enjoyed in childhood, such as skipping and running, dismissing them as mere games.

“When we were younger, we used to skip, we used to do a lot of things like that. Now we think we are too busy, Some of the things we thought were just games are actually doing something for us,” she said.

Ms. Ansah  pointed out that people who appear physically fit often engage in simple, consistent activities like walking, running, and skipping not necessarily complex gym routines.

The Fitness Enthusiast emphasised that exercise does not have to revolve around lifting heavy weights. While strength training is beneficial for those who have the time and energy, it is not the only path to fitness.

“Walking, skipping, running is enough to keep the body moving. You need to keep the body moving. That’s the whole point,” she stressed.

She further recommended taking advantage of serene neighbourhoods for morning or evening walks and using any free time during the day for light physical activity.
