Black Queens Set for WAFCON Build-Up at Pinks Ladies Cup in UAE

The Black Queens will begin preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with participation in the Pinks Ladies Cup tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

The four-nation tournament is scheduled to take place from February 28 to March 6, 2026, and will provide Ghana’s senior women’s national team with a competitive platform to fine-tune the squad, test tactical combinations and build match fitness ahead of the continental showpiece.

Widely regarded as a high-level preparatory competition, the Pinks Ladies Cup brings together national teams from different regions of the world. This year’s edition will feature Ghana, Russia, Hong Kong and Tanzania, offering the Black Queens exposure to varied playing styles and intense match situations.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren is expected to use the tournament to assess a blend of experienced players and emerging talents as he shapes his final squad for WAFCON.

Participation in the UAE-based competition underscores the commitment of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), with support from government, to ensure optimal preparation for the Black Queens as they target a strong showing at the tournament.

The Black Queens are expected to depart for the UAE ahead of the competition, with full squad details to be announced in the coming days.
