Ayew’s First-Ever Penalty Miss Compounds Leicester’s Home Defeat to Charlton
It was a nightmare Saturday afternoon for Jordan Ayew and Leicester City as the Foxes slumped to a disappointing 2–0 home defeat against Charlton Athletic, a result overshadowed by a historic personal setback for the Ghanaian captain.
In a match shaped by missed chances and early disciplinary trouble, Ayew’s 56th-minute penalty miss proved the decisive turning point. It marked the first time in his professional club career that the experienced forward had failed to convert from the spot.
Leicester appeared poised for a comeback early in the second half despite trailing 2–0, after Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku produced a moment of individual brilliance. Issahaku weaved his way through the Charlton defence with a dazzling run, drawing a desperate foul inside the penalty area.
