Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has hailed his side’s resilience after they fought back from two goals down to secure a dramatic 3–2 victory over West Ham United.
The Blues endured a difficult first half after conceding twice, but mounted an impressive second-half comeback with goals from Joao Pedro, Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez to claim all three points against their London rivals.
The win marks another eye-catching result for Chelsea under head coach Liam Rosenior, who was appointed earlier this year following the departure of Enzo Maresca and has overseen an upturn in performances.
The match ended in chaotic fashion, with West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo shown a red card late on as tempers flared, but the focus remained on Chelsea’s spirited response.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Joao Pedro described the victory as a significant moment for the team.
“Sometimes this can happen, but we have a strong squad. We showed we are capable to do it, now we must look forward and continue,” he said.
“We knew our power. It’s another special day. This team is very young but everyone trusts each other, this is our power. We can improve a lot, but this game is important to show the fans how strong we are,” Pedro added.
