Helping Dreams Take Root: Rapidlink MD Recognised for Advancing Financial Inclusion

It is this quiet but consistent impact that has earned the Founder and Managing Director of Rapidlink Microfinance, Mr. Edward Opare-Donkor, national recognition for his contribution to financial inclusion in Ghana.

Mr. Opare-Donkor was recently honoured with the Fellowship Honours and Financial Inclusion Personality Award at the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) Ghana Awards 2025, in recognition of his leadership and sustained efforts to deepen access to finance for underserved communities across the country.

Reflecting on the recognition, Mr. Opare-Donkor described the award as a tribute not only to his personal journey, but to the resilience of Rapidlink’s clients and the dedication of its team.

“What this award really brings to mind is the courage of the people we serve and the commitment of our team. Watching someone take a small loan and turn it into a thriving business, or seeing a young entrepreneur plan for a future they once thought impossible, that’s what this is all about, that’s the real reward” he said.

Since its inception, Rapidlink Microfinance has remained committed to a clear mission: providing accessible, inclusive and practical financial solutions that empower micro-entrepreneurs, women-led groups and underserved communities to grow sustainable livelihoods. That mission is reflected in countless stories, from traders expanding their market stalls and artisans employing apprentices, to communities gaining confidence through structured savings and financial literacy programmes.

With more than 22 years of experience in the financial services sector, Mr. Opare-Donkor brings a wealth of expertise in finance, digital transformation and strategic growth. Prior to founding Rapidlink, he held senior executive roles at Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited, including Deputy Managing Director. During his tenure, he played a key role in driving organisational transformation and introducing customer-focused innovations that simplified banking and broadened access to financial services.

Looking ahead, Rapidlink Microfinance is intensifying efforts to expand its digital offerings, with the aim of reaching more clients across Ghana while preserving the institution’s people-centred philosophy. According to management, every new product, branch and digital tool is designed to ensure clients are not merely surviving, but building resilient and prosperous futures.

The CICM recognition marks a significant milestone for Rapidlink, but the institution views it as part of a larger journey.
