Telecel Reaffirms Strategic Partnership in New Year Courtesy Call on Asantehene

The senior management of Telecel Ghana has paid a New Year’s courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, reaffirming the company’s longstanding strategic partnership with traditional leadership and its commitment to sustained investment in Ghana.
The visit, which has become a long-held tradition, offered the telecommunications company the opportunity to extend New Year greetings to the Asantehene, while seeking his counsel and continued support as Telecel Ghana advances its business objectives and social impact priorities in 2026.
The delegation was led by the Chief Executive Officer of Telecel Ghana, Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai, who reiterated the company’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the Ashanti Kingdom and contributing meaningfully to national development through improved connectivity and community-focused initiatives.
She described the Ashanti Region as a strategic market for Telecel Ghana, highlighting its importance in customer growth, network expansion, enterprise connectivity and digital inclusion.
“Ashanti is one of the central regions to our business. We will therefore continue to invest in expanding network capacity and improving service quality, while also focusing on building partnerships that support local economic growth and translating connectivity into real economic opportunity for people,” Ing. Obo-Nai stated.
She further noted that Telecel Ghana remains committed to aligning its commercial investments with broader community development initiatives, ensuring that technology and connectivity deliver tangible social and economic benefits across the country.
Welcoming the delegation, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended Telecel Ghana for sustaining its engagement with the Manhyia Palace and the Ashanti Region over the years. He encouraged the company to continue on its growth trajectory while deepening its positive social investments, particularly in areas that enhance livelihoods and development.
A key highlight of Telecel Ghana’s partnership with the Ashanti Kingdom is its support for the annual Asantehene Golf Tournament, one of the country’s most prestigious sporting events. The company confirmed its continued sponsorship of the tournament, which will host its 68th edition later this year. Telecel Ghana has served as headline sponsor for eight consecutive years, contributing to the promotion of sports tourism and economic activity in Kumasi.
Beyond high-profile sponsorships, Telecel Ghana’s regional engagement includes targeted customer reward programmes, promotional campaigns, support for local enterprises, and community health and development initiatives. These activities are coordinated annually through the company’s flagship ‘Ashanti Month’ initiative, which celebrates culture while deepening customer and community relationships.
The courtesy call underscored Telecel Ghana’s broader strategy of combining network investment with cultural engagement and community partnerships, as the company pursues purposeful and inclusive growth across Ghana.
