Vegetable Farmers to Receive Specialized Training to Boost Quality and Market Access

Vegetable farmers across Ghana are set to benefit from a comprehensive capacity-building programme announced by the Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana, aimed at improving production standards and strengthening access to high-value markets.
The training, which will be hosted at JORO Farm and Agriculture Processing Limited in Budu-Atta in the Central Region, is designed to equip farmers with modern best practices in vegetable cultivation, food safety, and sustainability. The initiative is expected to enhance consumer confidence in the quality and safety of locally produced vegetables while improving farmers’ incomes.
President of the Association, Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu, said the programme reflects a commitment to ensuring that Ghanaians have access to safe, healthy, and sustainably produced food. He described the initiative as a critical step toward raising national agricultural standards and empowering farmers to compete in formal and export-oriented markets.
The programme will focus on the safe application of agro-chemicals and fertilizers, proper land preparation and water sourcing, integrated pest management, and compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification requirements.
Farmers who successfully complete the training will be issued a unique identification code and an operational licence, enabling them to supply vegetables to reputable outlets such as hotels, supermarkets, and export markets. The Association says the initiative will be implemented in collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure long-term impact across the vegetable value chain.
