Salaga South MP Launches Support Fund

The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has unveiled a three-tier development fund designed to support women, students, and the youth of her constituency. She described the initiative as a long-term investment in the social and economic future of Salaga South.
Speaking at the launch, Ms. Ibrahimah explained that the programme is anchored on three pillars, education, women’s empowerment, and youth development with education serving as the foundation for sustainable growth. She emphasized that the scheme is intended to ensure that no segment of the constituency is left behind.
“Education remains the bedrock of every meaningful development, and if we fail to invest in our young people today, we mortgage the future of Salaga South,” she stated.
Under the education component, brilliant but needy students will receive financial assistance to cover tuition fees, accommodation, and learning materials. The MP disclosed that even before the official launch, several tertiary students had already benefited from the initiative, highlighting its immediate impact.
The women’s empowerment fund will provide support for women-led initiatives and livelihoods, helping to strengthen economic independence among women in the constituency. Meanwhile, the youth development fund will focus on skills training and employment opportunities aimed at reducing unemployment and promoting self-reliance among young people.
Ms. Ibrahimah used the occasion to call on traditional authorities, party executives, civil society organisations, and residents to rally behind the programme. She stressed that development requires collective effort, noting, “This is not a one-person project. If we all play our part, we can build a more inclusive and prosperous Salaga South.”
Representing the constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the MP said the initiative aligns with broader national efforts to promote social inclusion, youth empowerment, and access to education, particularly in underserved communities.
The launch event was attended by local party officials, community leaders, and beneficiaries, who welcomed the intervention as timely and impactful. Many expressed optimism that the programme would help address pressing challenges facing women, students, and young people in Salaga South.
