David Entertainer Speaks on Content Creation, Sacrifice and the Reality Behind Social Media Fame

Popular comedian and content creator David Entertainer has described Nigeria’s content creation space as one still struggling for structure, saying creators are largely “doing our own thing to survive” in the entertainment industry.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Highway 1019 on ZED FM, David noted that while content creation has gained massive attention, it is yet to mature into a fully established industry. “I don’t think there is an industry for content creators yet. We are just doing our own thing, trying to survive,” he said, expressing hope that a more formal structure would emerge in the near future.
David, known for his rib-cracking skits on social media, praised recent efforts aimed at supporting creators. “I love the current initiative from the new media crew. I think the new media initiative helps creators, and I’m really interested to see how far the project will go,” he added.
Addressing the debate around whether content creation truly pays, the entertainer dismissed claims that social media success is mostly illusion. According to him, consistency and growth are key. “It pays a lot. If you stay consistent and grow in the industry, it can pay enough to buy houses and luxury cars,” he said, adding that monetization through platforms and brand deals has become a major source of income for successful creators.
David also opened up about the sacrifices behind his success, revealing that he had to put his fitness career on hold. A trained kickboxer and full fitness coach, he explained that content creation began to clash with client schedules. “I started signing off my clients because shooting content was affecting my training sessions. It was draining my energy, but I had to make that sacrifice,” he said.
