Ghanaian singer, Emmanuel John Bandick Dankwa,  popularly known Sony Achiba has praised veteran producer and musician Morris Babyface. He described Babyface as a key figure who helped shape both the older and newer eras of Ghana’s music scene.

In an interview on Kumasi-based Pure FM, Achiba spoke passionately about Babyface’s impact. He noted that Babyface’s work crossed various genres, generations, and genders.

He highlighted that Morris Babyface played a crucial role in promoting some of the country’s most respected musicians. “He helped us all. Me, Kontihene, Kwaadee, Esther Smith, Noble Nketia…” he said, recalling how many artists benefited from Babyface’s creativity and guidance.

The ‘Nipa Boniayefour’ hitmaker emphasized that Babyface’s contribution was undeniable. “Without a doubt, he brought us all into the limelight,” he said. Achiba described Morris a true pioneer whose remarkable work has built a legacy that will always be part of Ghana’s music history.

In the late 1990s and 2000s, Morris Babyface, also known as Morris D’Voice Lovit, became one of the most influential figures behind Ghana’s defining sounds. Whether it was Highlife, Hiplife, Rap, or Gospel, his work helped shape an entire generation.

Beyond the artists Achiba mentioned, Babyface collaborated with some of Ghana’s biggest names, including Kojo Antwi, Daddy Lumba, Akyeame, Obour, Tic Tac, Akatakyie, Barimah Sydney, and Nana Agyemang. His influence extended deep into Gospel music, producing hits for well-known acts such as Tagoe Sisters, Moses OK, Ohemaa Mercy, and Diana Asamoah. His long collaboration with Esther Smith remains a fan favorite.

Morris Babyface’s unique career allowed him to influence both secular and Gospel music at the same time. His versatility often placed him on the songs he produced, blending performance and production in a way few could match.

Now focused on evangelism, Morris Babyface dedicates his talent to Gospel music. His recent projects include new work with UK-based Gospel icon Esther Smith, reaffirming a partnership that has produced some of Ghana’s most memorable worship songs.
