Easy for foreigners to set up business here – Ghana-South Africa Business Chamber President

By Praisebell Rosemond Larbi

The President of the Ghana-South Africa Business Chamber, Mr Grant Webber, has commended Ghana’s strong investment climate, transparent legal framework, and welcoming business environment, describing the country as one of Africa’s most promising destinations for investors.

Speaking on ZED FM’s ‘I Have a Story to Tell’ yesterday, October 21, 2025, Mr Webber said choosing to live and work in Ghana remains one of the best decisions of his life.

He praised the country’s hospitality, gentle culture, and ease of doing business, noting that Ghana provides an environment where investors can operate freely, efficiently, and with minimal bureaucracy.

“It is easy to set up a business in Ghana as a foreigner. The legal and administrative processes are straightforward, and I found every step free of frustration. Things are done properly, and I had to pay my dues. I found that very easy and delightful,” Mr Webber disclosed.

He emphasised that Ghana’s market fundamentals, political stability, growing middle class, and expanding consumer base make it one of the most attractive destinations for South African investors seeking to expand operations in West Africa.

“Attracting foreign capital is easy for Ghana because of the openness of its market space,” Mr Webber stated.

Under his leadership, the Ghana-South Africa Business Chamber has been working closely with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) to promote bilateral trade and investment flows.

The partnership aims to strengthen business linkages between the two countries and support both Ghanaian and South African enterprises in exploring mutually beneficial opportunities across sectors such as manufacturing, finance, technology, and real estate.

According to the GIPC, Ghana continues to rank among Africa’s leading investment destinations, attracting billions of dollars in foreign direct investment (FDI) over the past decade.

The Centre has been instrumental in providing facilitation support for South African firms operating in Ghana, including assistance with registration, permits, and aftercare services to ensure sustainable business operations.

Mr Webber highlighted that beyond profit, the Chamber’s mission also includes contributing to Ghanaian society through corporate social responsibility initiatives and knowledge-sharing platforms.

“We want to create partnerships that not only bring capital but also skills, innovation, and jobs,” he stressed.

Mr Webber noted that Ghana’s youthful population and entrepreneurial energy offer immense potential for start-ups and small businesses.  “There are more opportunities for young entrepreneurs in Ghana and across Africa than anywhere else in the world,” he added.
