Kurt Okraku applauds successful 47th CAF General Assembly in Kinshasa

The past five days have been a whirlwind of activity for African football, with key stakeholders from across the continent converging in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, to chart a course for growth, sustainability, and unity.

CAF 2nd Vice-President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku hailed the successful 47th General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as a resounding success.

Reflecting on the event, Okraku praised the spirit of collaboration and forward thinking that defined the Assembly. “The past five days have been truly eventful and inspiring for African football. It was a period of meaningful engagement, constructive dialogue, and forward-thinking discussions aimed at shaping the future of our beautiful game on the continent,” he said.

The Assembly, led by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, brought together members of the Executive Committee and representatives from all 54 member associations. The sessions were marked by unity, transparency, and a shared commitment to driving African football forward.

“Under Dr Motsepe’s visionary leadership, we successfully conducted the business of the Assembly with remarkable unity and purpose.The deliberations reflected a shared commitment to progress, transparency, and sustainable growth, reaffirming that African football is indeed on the rise,” Mr Okraku stated.

The gathering was also honoured by the presence of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and his team, reaffirming FIFA’s strong support for African football’s transformation.

“We were deeply honoured by their presence, and their continued partnership and support remain invaluable to the development of football across Africa,” Mr Okraku noted.

The 47th General Assembly focused on key areas, including governance, financial accountability, youth development, and infrastructure enhancement, all crucial to CAF’s long-term vision of making African football globally competitive and commercially sustainable.

Mr Okraku expressed optimism about African football’s trajectory, emphasising the collective determination to elevate the sport.

“Africa’s football story continues to unfold, and it is a story of unity, resilience, and ambition.

“Together, we will keep moving forward, building stronger structures, empowering our youth, and elevating African football to greater heights on the world stage,” he affirmed. The 47th CAF General Assembly in Kinshasa underscored the unity of purpose among African football leaders, with a shared aspiration to make the continent a powerhouse in the global game.
