Accra to host Africa’s top oil executives

Accra is set to become the epicentre of Africa’s oil and gas sector next week, as senior executives from 19 petroleum-producing countries convene for the 7th African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO) National Oil Companies (NOCs) CEOs Meeting.

The summit, hosted by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), is scheduled to take place from 14 to 15 September 2025.

The high-level gathering is expected to yield actionable strategies on shared infrastructure, local content policies, innovation and investment opportunities within Africa’s energy markets.

For Ghana, hosting the meeting reinforces its growing reputation as a hub for petroleum dialogue and deal-making, at a time when global competition for investment in the sector is intensifying.

Kwame Ntow Amoah, Acting CEO of GNPC and current Chair of the APPO NOC CEOs Forum, will preside over the talks.

He said the gathering affirms Ghana’s influence in Africa’s energy landscape and GNPC’s role in driving regional partnerships.

“Bringing together the continent’s top petroleum executives is not just about dialogue, it is about creating pathways for financing, technology transfer and sustainable development in Africa’s oil and gas sector,” Mr Amoah said.

The meeting, taking place alongside Africa Oil Week 2025, is also expected to provide a platform for member states to align on strategies that reduce costs, attract private capital and enhance energy security, particularly through joint projects and cross-border cooperation.
