Standard Chartered Bank declares GH₵0.0512 dividend for preference shareholders

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana (SCB) has declared a dividend of GHS0.0512 per share for all preference shareholders for the six-month period ending September 2025.
The announcement was contained in a circular issued by the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), which confirmed the schedule and entitlements for qualifying investors.
According to the notice, all preference shareholders who are duly registered in the bank’s books at the close of business on Friday, 12 September 2025, will be eligible for the dividend.
The GSE further indicated that the Register of Shareholders will be closed from Monday, 15 September 2025 to Tuesday, 16 September 2025 for processing.
As part of the arrangement, the ex-dividend date, the cut-off date for qualification, has been fixed for Wednesday, 10 September 2025.
This means that any investor purchasing SCB preference shares before 10 September will qualify for the dividend, while those acquiring shares on or after that date will not be entitled to it.
Dividend declarations remain a critical component of shareholder value and reflect the ability of a listed company to consistently generate returns.
For institutional and retail investors, dividend schedules are particularly important in shaping trading strategies and ensuring predictable income streams.
Market analysts note that while dividends on preference shares are typically fixed and cumulative, timely disclosures by listed companies help to enhance transparency and protect investor confidence.
Preference shares are a distinct class of equity instruments that generally carry fixed dividend rights, priority claims over ordinary shareholders in dividend payments, and in some cases preferential rights during liquidation.
