GES opens promotion applications for teachers, officers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has opened applications for the promotion of qualified teachers and officers to higher ranks within the service.

In a statement, GES indicated that the promotion exercise will cover four categories: Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent.

The service noted that the exercise is strictly for serving teachers who meet the required criteria.

To qualify for promotion to Deputy Director, applicants must have attained the rank of Assistant Director I in or before 2020 and must have been continuously at post, except for approved leave.

For Assistant Director I, candidates should have been promoted to Assistant Director II in or before 2020.

Similarly, applicants for Assistant Director II must have held the rank of Principal Superintendent in or before 2020, while those applying for Principal Superintendent must have attained the rank of Senior Superintendent I in or before 2020.

Teachers who have completed an approved undergraduate degree will automatically be placed at the Principal Superintendent level.

However, those seeking promotion based on Master’s or PhD qualifications must ensure the programme was an approved GES course of study.

The certificates must also have been obtained after their last promotion, with only those acquired in or before 2022 accepted for promotions to the ranks of Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Deputy Director.

GES further advised applicants to submit their forms online via https://bit.ly/gespromotions2025 or by scanning the official QR code provided.

Applicants must upload a recent passport-size photograph, their last promotion or appointment letter, and their highest academic certificate.

All documents, apart from the photograph, must be uploaded in clear and legible PDF format. The application window opens on Monday, 18 August, and will close on Friday, 5 September.
