Faint hopes for Ghana as Eddie Nketiah fails to make England debut

Eddie Nketiah’s failure to play any minutes for the Three Lions of England in the recent international break means there is still a chance for him to switch nationalities and play for the Black Stars of Ghana.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA), and by extension a lot of Ghanaians had given up hope of Nketiah playing for Ghana receiving his maiden call-up to the England national tea,.
The 24-year-old had been pursued by officials from Ghana in a bid to convince him to represent the country which has been struggling to find prolific goal scorers after Asamoah Gyan retired.
However, Nketiah who rose through the ranks of England’s junior national teams honoured an invitation by Gareth Southgate for their European Championship qualifiers in the current international break
However, the Arsenal forward has been overlooked in England’s two games against Ukraine and Scotland.
Nketiah was omitted from the match day squad against Ukraine in the European qualifiers with three goalkeepers picked ahead of him in a game which ended 1-1.
The striker again warmed the bench for England in their international friendly against Scotland on Tuesday as the Three Lions won 3-1.
Nketiah, who has been approached by the GFA and people close to the association to play for the Black Stars, was born in England to Ghanaian parents. He is therefore eligible to change his mind with regard to international football with Ghana anticipating positive feedback just like the many other players who switched allegiances last year, including Tariq Lamptey and Inaki Williams.
