Mid-year budget: Expect more good news – Mahama tells Ghanaians

President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians of positive developments in the upcoming mid-year budget review.
Speaking at a durbar in Wa on Thursday, May 15, during his tour of the Upper West Region, the President expressed confidence that the country’s economic situation is steadily improving, attributing it to deliberate government interventions.
“Since assuming office, stabilizing the economy has been our topmost priority. “I am happy to report that our efforts are beginning to yield results,” President Mahama said.
He noted that the 2025 budget, presented to Parliament in March, was carefully designed to reduce public expenditure while prioritizing key sectors outlined in the government’s manifesto.
The President highlighted early signs of recovery, including the improved performance of the Ghanaian cedi and a gradual decline in the prices of goods and services.
Mr. Mahama praised Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama for their close collaboration in managing the economic turnaround.
“I commend the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and their teams for their coordination and dedication,” he added.
Looking ahead, the President expressed optimism that the mid-year budget review in August will bring even more encouraging news for Ghanaians.
“I am confident that when the Minister presents the mid-year review in August, we will have even more good news to share,” Mr. Mahama added.
