Kenyans in Ghana Celebrate 2025 Family Fun Day

The Kenyans in Ghana Association (KGA) successfully hosted its 2025 Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 10, bringing together over 120 members of the Kenyan community in Ghana for a vibrant day of celebration, connection, and cultural pride.
The Family Fun Day, a much-anticipated annual event on the KGA calendar, is designed to foster unity and provide a platform for Kenyans living in Ghana to network, unwind, and celebrate their shared heritage. This year’s edition stood out for its energetic atmosphere, smooth organization, and safe, injury-free environment.
The event, which was held at the Athletic Oval Field of the University of Ghana, welcomed both adults and children to an afternoon filled with engaging activities, delicious food, lively music, and a strong sense of togetherness.

Families arrived dressed in colourful team T-shirts, ready to compete and cheer one another on. Children roamed freely across the open lawns, while adults enthusiastically participated in games, creating a joyful and spirited environment that captured the essence of community.
The Acting High Commissioner of the Kenya High Commission in Ghana, Mr. Kottut, served as the Guest of Honour. In his remarks, he praised the event for reflecting the values of the Kenyan diaspora.

“This event truly captured the warmth, resilience, and unity of Kenyans living abroad. It was wonderful to see our community in Ghana reconnect through fun and laughter. At the High Commission, we are proud to support initiatives that bring our diaspora together,” he said.
Chairperson of KGA, Ms. Emma Wenani, also expressed her satisfaction with the event’s success.

“We are incredibly proud of how this year’s Family Fun Day turned out. It’s always heartwarming to see families come together and enjoy themselves. Events like this remind us of the importance of community and connection, even when we’re far from home,” she said. KGA extended its heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, volunteers, and sponsors who contributed to making the day a memorable one. The Association noted that it is looking forward to building on this success with future events that continue to strengthen the bonds of the Kenyan community in Ghana.
