Kotoko gaffer Karim Zito not giving up on GPL title ambition despite Hearts draw

Asante Kotoko interim coach Karim Zito remains optimistic about his side’s chances of clinching the Ghana Premier League title despite a goalless draw against Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
Speaking after the Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium, Zito insisted that the dream is still alive.
“I’m still standing by my pledge that I’m going to win the league. I’m going to fight until the end,” Zito said after the game.
“When you look at the table and see where we are lying, our chances of winning are very slim. But I say, until it is over, it is not over yet.”
The game marked the end of Hearts’ four-game losing streak in the fixture.
Though it lacked intensity and attacking flair, Kotoko had the first real chance through Kwame Opoku in the seventh minute, but a timely intervention from Konadu Yiadom denied him.
Hearts struggled to create clear opportunities despite dominating possession, while Kotoko offered little threat on the counter.
In the second half, Stephen Appiah Asare wasted Hearts’ best chance, and Kotoko responded with brief pressure.
However, their efforts fizzled out in the final third. A late attempt from Albert Amoah came close, but his shot went wide.
Despite the dropped points, Kotoko remain fourth with 51 points, three behind leaders Nations FC.
