Ghana’s U15 boys and girls secured a place in the semi-finals of the CAF African Schools Championship with victories over South Africa and Benin respectively.
Ignatius Hagan netted the only goal as the Black Comets defeated South Africa on Thursday afternoon at the University of Ghana Stadium. The match, played over two halves of 20 minutes each, saw Ghana dominate possession while maintaining defensive discipline to hold off a determined South African side.
This victory marks Ghana’s second consecutive win in the tournament, following their impressive 2-0 triumph over Uganda in their opening game on Wednesday. The results ensure Ghana’s qualification to the semi-finals with one group game to spare.
The Black Starlets will complete their group campaign with a tie against Algeria later as they aim to finish top of the group.
Meanwhile, the U15 girls defeated Benin 2-0 to also move top of Group A in the competition and seal a place in the semi-final. They will face Malawi in the final game with hopes of keeping their place at the top of Group A.
The competition brings together U15 teams from across the continent in a celebration of youth football and talent development.
