African Schools Championship: Ghana’s U15 Boys and Girls get off to flying start

Ghana’s U15 boys and girls teams made a strong start to their CAF African Schools Football Championship campaign with victories over Uganda and Morocco respectively.
Winger John Andor stole the spotlight for the U15 boys, scoring both goals, the first a superb strike and the second coming via a goalkeeping error, as Ghana collected maximum points in their opening match.
Despite making their debut in the competition, the young side showed maturity and control, bossing the game from start to finish during the 40-minute contest, which consists of two halves of 20 minutes each.
Ghana will continue their group stage campaign against South Africa at 11:00 am on Thursday, before facing Algeria at 3:00 pm later in the day to wrap up the group phase.
Meanwhile, the girls team edged Morocco 1-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Jennifer Awuku scored the decisive goal in the second half to hand Ghana a perfect start to the tournament, which features 40-minute matches – 20 minutes per half.
The team will next face Benin at 12:00 pm on Thursday before concluding their group stage campaign against Malawi at 4:00 pm the same day.
The 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship runs from April 23 to April 26 at the University of Ghana Stadium. Ghana will be hoping to go all the way and lift the trophy on home soil.
