NPP outlaws private security at Super Delegates Conference

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has informed its members that the Ghana Police Service has been entrusted with complete control of the security arrangement for the upcoming Super Delegates Conference, which is slated for Saturday, August 26, 2023.

A statement issued by the party and read by the Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Elections Committee, Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah urged all stakeholders to abide by the rules and regulations governing the electoral process.

He warned that no other security organisation will be permitted at the various voting centers.

Also, all non-delegates will be restricted from going beyond a designated security zone set up by the police.

About 958 delegates are expected to decide the fate of the ten NPP presidential aspirants by selecting five for the Party’s presidential primary slated for November 4, 2023.

After the close of voting on Saturday, the EC would do the counting and announce the results at all the regional centres and transmit the results to the EC’s headquarters in Accra for collation.

The aspirants would have two agents each accredited to the polling stations to monitor the process, and that after the collation, each would be given a copy of the results.

The NPP’s Super Delegates Conference is set to whittle down the total number of Presidential Aspirants from 10 to five, before the National Delegates Congress will decide who the flagbearer for the 2024 elections will be.
