Kofi Adams insists Ghana’s sports needs healing

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed deep concern over the declining state of sports in Ghana, describing it as “sick” and in urgent need of revival.

Football and other sporting disciplines in the country have faced a sharp decline in recent years, with the situation worsening after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Addressing the state of Ghanaian sports, Mr. Adams, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for the Buem constituency, emphasized the need for collective efforts to restore its former glory.

“Our football is in a sorry state,” he told Asempa FM. “The only thing we have is past glories. We are four-time African champions but our football and the state of our sports is in a bad state and this is the time for us to come together and help raise the passion for our sports.

He urged Ghanaians to actively support and invest in sports to help revive its declining standards.

“I want to appeal to Ghanaians to get involved and invest to help revive our sports because our sports is sick and needs to be healed and it can only be done by showing love so it can be healed.  “Our senior national team is sick and it has affected all other sports, and it’s about time we invest in our various sports,” he added.
